Job description

The Director of Data Excellence & Business Transformation is overseeing and leading data operations & system related transformation at a R&D level.

He/She is a trusted advisor to the Biometry Leadership Team helping to drive oversight of critical Biometry business initiatives and actively supporting on all aspects of strategy and operations.

He/She actively supporting the development of Biometry/Data Flow vision and strategy in alignment with R&D and corporate objectives.

He/She is responsible for scaling the Clinical Systems as new products and services, transforming data handling & systems into insights that inform strategy and decision making. Working under minimal supervision, the Director of Data Excellence & Transformation, is a business minded individual collaborating closely with senior leadership to align data initiatives with the company’s overall business objectives, ensuring that data supports and accelerates strategic goals but also driving innovation in data marketplace.

Based on analytical/problem solving skill set and outside-the-box thinking The Director of Data Excellence & Transformation delivers insightful data analysis, define and monitor key performance metrics & initiatives, support new product innovation, drive data strategy, program and roadmap and address operational challenges working with a cross functional group of collaborators across IT/System, Digital, Clinical and Business.

Main Tasks

Strategic Planning, Initiatives, and vision responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Biometry and Systems & Standards teams to define the Business Operations transformation initiative’s vision, goals and strategies.
  • Guide the future direction of data strategy and processes, including intake, sources, data integrity and tools.
  • Transform data and information into insights that inform high-level strategy and tactical decision-making in support of clinical trials.
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure information needs are formalized and understood and be conversant in the functional requirements for information exchange.
  • Influencing and effecting business process changes to support an efficient and cost-effective business operations environment.
  • Set direction and create roadmap for Biometry wide data strategy that will deliver on business goals in close partnership with R&D functions
  • Collaborate with IT teams to design and optimize data architectures, data pipelines, and data warehouses to support asset management needs.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, efficient, automated processes for Biometry.
  • Support the development and maintenance of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) & Work Instructions.

Project management responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage key data-driven multiple initiatives and projects, overseeing the program, including planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and communicate updates to key stakeholders, ensuring successful and timely project delivery.
  • Ensure the delivery and execution of roadmap.
  • Responsible for budget, resources and operations planning to ensure the transformation project is delivered in line with quality, budget, and timelines in a transversal setting.
  • Champion project management discipline and provide the processes, structures, and tools to be adopted across transformation projects.
  • Monitor and report the progress of the transformation project providing regular updates to senior leaders and stakeholders.

Conduct activities in accordance with rules and values of IPSEN.

Within its sphere of activity, to respect the regulation, to apply the IPSEN good practices and standards, and the SHE procedures set up on the site.

  • Participate at the SHE training, proposed in the framework of the training at post of work.
  • Contribute to reduce the environmental impact of the activities on the site.
  • Inform his / her superiors of any changes affecting the post of work, so that the single document evaluation of occupational risks, can be updated, as well as any useful information to better take into account the EHS on site

Experience :

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in leadership role in the fields of Data Strategy, Governance, Data Products, Data Architecture, Data Science and Data Value with a focus in life sciences industry
  • Strong understanding of transformation methods, change management and project management practices.
  • Operational project management experience including planning, prioritization, problem solving and
  • organizational skills. Used to managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, with a proven track record of successfully interacting with and influencing a wide range of people, building strong positive relationships.
  • Experience in Data Governance and/or biometry and/or clinical systems
  • Experience in leading multi-cultural, global and/or remote based teams.
  • Good budget management understanding
  • Excellent organizational and management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Qualification :

  • Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences, Bioinformatics or Chemistry with a strong background in Data Science or Data Analytics

Language: English- Fluent level is mandatory, French (optional)

Required Competencies

  • Flexible; independent problem solving and self-direction.
  • Knowledge of international standards ( CDISC, ISO, SPOR, IDMP…) and regulations related to clinical studies, electronic data capture and data management
  • Deep understanding of data security and privacy best practices.
  • Working knowledge of GxPs.
  • Office and clinical trial software IT computer literacy.
  • High level of expertise of oversight and management of external vendors
  • Strong ability to communicate / interact at all levels within the business and with external partners
  • Strong diagnostic, analytical and process improvement skills
  • Strong leadership and line management capability
